Description
Boys working as cleaners in Pepperell's Laconia Co. Mills spinning room in Biddeford, ca. 1908. The only one identified is Arthur Danis, third from right, age 16. The foreman is in the back wearing a white shirt and suspenders. Many young people worked in the mills until the state changed the laws. This is one of few photographs showing children at work in the mills.
